Level 8 Striver Gymnasts Compete in Season-Opener
Sturgeon Bay, WI – The Door County YMCA Level 8 Striver Gymnastics Team made a strong start to their competitive season this past weekend at the "SPIRIT" Invitational in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Hosted by the Stevens Point YMCA, the event featured six teams, with all four of the Striver gymnasts making their Level 8 debut.
The Strivers brought home an impressive second-place team trophy and captured 12 individual event medals in the top-eight rankings. Daylia Sund led the team with gold medals on both vault (9.1) and balance beam (8.9), securing a fourth-place all-around finish (34.20) and a fourth place on floor (9.2). Amira Anschutz earned bronze on vault (8.85) and placed sixth in the all-around (33.75), seventh on both beam (8.15) and floor (9.05), and eighth on bars (7.7). Estelle Duerst placed sixth on bars (7.9) and eighth on vault (8.7), while Portia Hah rounded out the team’s achievements with a fifth-place finish on bars (8.1).
The Strivers’ next competition will be held November 2-3 in Kimberly, WI, at the Heart of the Valley YMCA, where they will be joined by the Striver Excel Silver and Excel Gold squads for their season-opening meet.
